Hello Friends
Greetings from the pink city Jaipur. As I traveled along the new expressway to Jaipur, the lush green Aravali range welcomed me with miles of broad horizons. I truly enjoyed this rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. As I journeyed further, my thoughts wandered to the comparison between tablets, now popular among the younger generation, and books. Despite the allure of screens, I have always advocated for minimizing screen time and embracing the joy of reading books. This reflection inspired me to write a poem in Hindi and its English version, which I am sharing with you.
Hindi Version
टैबलेट और किताब
नाक-भौं सिकोड़ कर
तिरस्कार करते हुए जब
एक जीर्ण-क्षीण किताब को
देख रही थी टैबलेट
सोच रही थी घमंड से
अपने अहं प्रचंड में
कौन छुएगा किताब अब
इंटरनेट में हर जवाब जब
तभी आया मालिक वहाँ
गया किताब थी जहाँ
उठा कर उसे प्यार से
साफ़ किया सत्कार से
बोला मालिक अपने बच्चे से
छोटे और मन के सच्चे से
यदि चाहिए मूल ज्ञान
किताबों में लगाना ध्यान
छटपटा रही थी टैबलेट
हवा हुआ सारा घमंड
जब उस मैली किताब को मिला
आदर और सम्मान प्रचंड
इंटरनेट की दुनिया तो देती है
उधार लिए हुए विचार
किताबें ही हैं जो दे सकें
मूल ज्ञान विज्ञान के सिद्धांत
चकाचौंध से भ्रमित हो
मत छोड़ देना किताबों को
यही हैं सच्ची साथी

English Version:
Tablet and Book
Curling its nose disdainfully,
With a scornful look,
The tablet sneered and glanced
At an old, worn-out book.
The proud tablet jeered and said,
“Hey, you will face neglect.
Who will waste time on you
In the digital age of the internet?”
Then the owner arrived,
Cleaned the book with care.
In seconds, the tablet’s ego was gone,
But curiosity lingered there.
The owner spoke to his innocent child,
“Listen to me with full attention.
If you seek true knowledge, my child,
Books alone will be your real guide.
In the digital world of the internet,
There’s borrowed material and some nonsense,
But it is only books
That dispel ignorance.
Don’t be dazzled by the glare,
Never abandon books,
They are true companions
That nurture the mind.
