A poem, “Mindset of Show Business”

Greetings from the lake city of Udaipur. In today’s post, I am sharing a poem I wrote sometime ago. In this poem, I have attempted to capture the essence of maintaining a youthful spirit by those in show business, despite the passing years. The protagonist is a woman in show business or it could also be a man. The poem reflects on the societal pressures of aging in the context of show business, where appearances often dictate success. It juxtaposes the external perceptions of age with the internal resilience and determination of the protagonist, who refuses to be defined by conventional measures of time.

The Mindset of Show Business

The other day I met a friend
After greetings she made a comment
You still look good she said
Should I smile or should I fret

I thought only mirror was bad
Looks her Eyesight is also bad
Doesn’t she remember till last few decades
I was in talk in the town’s arcades

Concealed wrinkles and coloured hair
Also my complexion looks fair
With goggles on I look perfect
I bet my real age no one can guess

How doctors tell my knees are weak
Haven’t they seen me run with high speed
Pity the lab who did my tests
With so much to achieve how can I rest

Year of birth is a poor measure of age
When teenager in you is out of cage
In show business one cannot be old
If your success is to be written in gold
